Nasty Girls were formed when a group of bitter and twisted Disabled/Deaf women got together and decided to take the piss out of everything that annoyed them. They began writing their own material and hit the comedy circuit causing a real stir. Some critics loved them. Some hated them. They have been described in reviews as "hilarious", "a breath of fresh air" and "disgusting". Their confrontational, controversial brand of humour centres on disability and attitudes towards it. They devise, write and perform their own material which has a distinctly Northern feel to it.

The Nasty Girls are currently : Anne Cunningham , Natalie Markham, D.L. Williams, Elizabeth Tonkin, Pam Thomas, Eileen White, Faye Christiansen, Cynthia Pugh. Audrey Stanton and Julie Bethel Additional film parts are played by Cerrie Burnell, John Helt, John Wood. Linda Marsh, Vicky Roberts. Film-maker is Anne Cunningham and additional material by Brian Hilton.

From their first perfomance "R U Redi 4 Ths?" at Liverpool's DADA Fest in December 2001, the group quickly developed a reputation across the disability arts movement for devising and performing irreverent and biting dangerous comedy. Since then, they have gone on to demonstrate their popular appeal to mainstream audiences with shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and performances at theatres across Britain.

They have featured in a Granada TV documentary ("Access all Areas"), BBC Radio Programme - "Should We be Laughing" and were interviewed by Jenni Murray on "Woman's Hour". They appear in the film "Shameless" (National Film Board of Canada)

They have won the DADA (Deaf and Disability Arts) Award for two years running (2003 and 2004). In 2004, they were the only British act to be invited to perform at Vancouver's prestigious KickstART Festival.

All performances incorporate spoken English and British Sign Language.
